We have some great news from Kenya’s Indian Ocean beaches!

The Kenya Wildlife Service has set up a Beach Management Programme on the 12km stretch of whitesand beaches between Serena and Nyali in Mombasa. The initiative includes:
- Ensuring hotel guests safety and security whilst on the beach, including beach and sea patrols
- Working with the hotels to enhance the beach ecology and protect the environment
- Ensuring clean and tidy beaches, supported by each hotel
- Training beach operators on social vices which will allow hotel guests to enjoy the beaches without being harassed
- Opening up lifeguard posts along the beach with trained rangers
The stretch of coast involved in the initiative runs from Mombasa Island up to Mtwapa Creek.
Following the pilot period, the programme will be extended to other beach areas which is great news for holidaymakers to Kenya.
